In this short film György Jovánovics, Kossuth Award-winning sculptor talks about his composition he calls the ‘Death work’, the memorial dedicated to the 1956 martyrs in plot 301. Winner of the Historical Justice Committee’s competition, Jovánovics’s public-sculptural masterpiece was completed in three years and ‘unveiled’ in 1992. The artist recently underwent surgery causing his voice to change, which is why his words are difficult to understand in places.
