CONDEMNED TO LIVE – A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE SMALL PRISON
Condemned to Live presents the former place of execution, the Small Prison, through the recollections of survivors. Three of the four interviewees (Jenő Fónay, János Puchert, László Regéczy-Nagy and Mária Wittner) escaped from the rope in the last moment, but many of their companions were hanged. Condemned to Live is a harrowing account of the impossibility of coming to terms with the trauma and the survivors’ endless compulsions. Condemned to Live was broadcast by several Hungarian television channels, it made it to the competition programme of the 2016 Hungarian Film Week and was successfully screened in the United States at events and festivals.
